Whether your goal is to become debt free, start a savings habit or make more money in 2022, these money making tips could help you achieve your dreams. Here are 10 ways Britons can spring clean their finances and make more money this month.

A financial spring clean should always start with a new household budget so that it’s easy to see where savings could be made.

Financial experts like Martin Lewis often recommend conducting a direct debit detox as this could save Britons £200 a year.

The Money Saving Expert founder said it’s not uncommon for people to be paying over the odds for things they no longer need or use.

The money-saving guru said: “Check your direct debits, check your standing orders.

“Are you dripping money away?”

Once people have taken this step, the next thing is to see if they are getting the best deals on their utilities and essential bills.

Many people pay too much for their mobile phones when it would be far better to buy the handset outright and opt for SIM only.

Another really simple way to save money is to switch the supermarket shop to Aldi or Lidl.

Lidl is currently the cheapest supermarket, closely followed by Aldi according to a recent survey by independent consumer champion Which?

10 ways to spring clean your finances:

  • Pimp out your parking space. Check out justpark.com and yourparkingspace.co.uk – you could make £100 a month.
  • Call your mobile phone supplier. If your deal is up, it’s best not to have a monthly package at all. Instead, you should pay for the handset straight and look into the best SIM only deals.
  • Switch your bank – NatWest is currently offering £150 to move accounts.
  • Have a clear out and sell stuff on Gumtree, Facebook groups and eBay.
  • Make the most of special offers on eating out by signing up to free trials with Tastecard and Gourmet Card.
  • Get paid to shop. Use cashback sites like Quidco and TopCashback.co.uk.
  • Save money on your food shop. Check out Lidl and Aldi or Asda if you prefer to stick to the big four.
  • Hire out your car to your neighbors – Britons are using apps like Karshare to make £400 a month renting out their vehicle when they don’t need it.
  • Sign up to an extras agency – Uni-Versal Extras is always looking for more artists and told Express.co.uk that earnings can be between £100 and £200 per day.
  • Make money in your spare time by signing up to sites like Airtasker or TaskRabbit where you can make an extra £500 a month.
